Last week, we were delighted to host parents for morning tea following our assembly.
Our morning circle demonstration involved announcements and introductions.
Additionally, during the Morning Welcome and Assembly, we addressed the potential introduction of a knitted jumper as part of our school uniform.
At the end of next week, parents will receive their child's Semester One Reports via COMPASS. This is an opportunity to celebrate their perseverance, achievements and most importantly, the effort they put into their learning. I wish to acknowledge the dedication of our teachers in preparing the Semester One reports. Their commitment to understanding each student's strengths and areas for growth is commendable and forms the basis of these reports.
Yours in partnership,
Marg Foldes
Principal

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
We have several students enrolled in the Sacramental program for Confirmation. Parents and carers are currently working with candidates through each of the required chapters.
There are four Ceremonies planned for the Sacrament of Confirmation, and these will take place over the weekend of 5 and 6 July. Please keep our candidates and their families in your prayers as they are completing their learning for this significant Sacrament.

SABBATH WEEK
Each term in Week 7, St Clare’s celebrates Sabbath Week. It is a time to pause from the busyness of life and allow students, staff, and families to step back from daily routines. This term, we focused on the wellbeing of our students and staff. Our aim was to create an easy and relaxing week that fostered not only academic success but also a sense of inner peace, resilience, and community.
All students had the opportunity to engage in a variety of wellbeing activities and strategies. Sabbath Week encouraged students and their families to take a break from home learning and other commitments, spending more time together and gathering in prayer.
As part of our collective journey in nurturing wellbeing, families were encouraged to enjoy activities that promote connection and calm, such as nature walks, family games night, tech-free time, emotional check-ins, family yoga, cooking together, and creating a gratitude jar or collage.
Thank you to the parents and carers who joined us for tea and coffee following the St Clare’s K–2 Flame Award Assembly to celebrate Wellbeing Week. It was wonderful to see so many families come together and enjoy the Berry Street Morning Circle during the Morning Tea in the school hall. During this time, we shared a glimpse into our daily routine by demonstrating a St Clare’s Morning Circle, an approach inspired by our staff's professional learning with the Berry Street Education Model.
We hope this special week offered you and your family a chance to rest, reflect, and rejuvenate.
Thank you for being part of such a meaningful week.
St Clare's Prayer Box
Last year at St Clare's, we introduced a Family Prayer Box for families to use in their homes.
The box includes a white cloth, coloured ribbons, a flameless candle, a cross, prayers, and a workbook for personal reflections. To set it up, simply cover the box with the cloth, arrange the ribbons based on the Liturgical season, and add the candle, cross, and prayers. Feel free to include a family photo or a flower to make it personal.
Praying together strengthens family bonds and deepens your relationship with God, supporting your child's spiritual growth and your connection to faith. Thank you to the beautiful families who have sent through some photos of the prayer space set up in our homes.
We would love to see your home prayer space set up! Please feel free to share a photo by sending it to info@scnvdow.catholic.edu.au so we can celebrate it with the wider community.
Kind regards,
Miss Ally Carter

POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING
Term 2, Weeks 9 & 10 Fortnightly Focus is "I can be a bucketfiller.'
Please take some time to view the table below so that as parents, you have a full understanding of what is expected of students, teachers and parents this fortnight. When we all work together, we achieve great things.
At St Clare’s, we have recently updated our PB4L signage around the school. These refreshed visuals serve as a helpful reminder for students of our fortnightly focus, supporting them to understand and consistently demonstrate positive behaviours. We’re proud to create an environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and safety across our school community.

For extended absences (of more than 5 school days) due to travel, parents must submit the Notification of Extended Absence form along with relevant travel documentation. This documentation should include: Dates, locations of travel, purpose and reasons for travel outside school holidays.
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new online Notification of Extended Absence form. This user-friendly form simplifies the process for parents, eliminating the need for printing or downloading documents. Now, parents can conveniently complete the application entirely online.
Parents can also notify multiple schools simultaneously with a single upload of supporting documents. Parents are also required to notify your school if their student has siblings attending other CEDoW schools.
How This Benefits Parents
If you wish to apply for an extended absence, please email the office on info@scnvdow.catholic.edulau and a link will be sent to you or if you add the absence in notes on Compass and it is over 5 days - it will automatically direct you to the link.
The URL for the new online form is https://forms.dow.catholic.edu.au/to/yVv9DA.
Acknowledgement of Extended Absence
After considering the explanation for the extended absence the school will issue an Acknowledgement of Extended Absence to the parent, regardless of whether the
explanation for the absence is accepted or not accepted by the Principal. The acknowledgment may include agreed matters relating to the student’s learning and well-being. Accepted extended absences will be recorded as explained and unaccepted absences will be recorded as unjustified.

P & F Report
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first School Movie Night. The event was a sellout well in advance and it was great to see so many excited students having a great time with their family and friends. The cheers and clapping at the end of the movie were our indication of a successful event. Thanks to Amy for the idea and organisation. We raised just over $1300 for the school. We are hoping to make the movie night an annual event!
The School Fair Information session was well attended with some fantastic feedback provided by both new and old faces to the school community. Thanks to everyone who came along and offered some valuable suggestions. Proceedings are well underway for Fair 2025.
Keep an eye out for the first edition of the 2025 Fair Express which will be available before the end of term. This will include future meeting dates and additional fair specific details.
